Workshop Description:
In this class, you learn to successfully paint multiple small landscape inspired by the techniques of the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists. Size will range from 8x10 to 11x14 inches per paintings.

Come learn how to paint sunlight, create atmosphere, and express luminous color that captures the mood and spirit of your chosen subject.

Join us as we paint little paintings with the power and impact of big paintings!

Supply list provided at 2-3 weeks before class once registered

A variety of brushes, primary paints, and some pallet knives will be helpful, plus your substrates. Table Easels and Water containers are provided.

Teacher Bio: Eric McRay received a BFA degree at the Maryland Institute, College of Art, where he earned a four-year scholarship for his artistic talent. A native of Washington, DC, McRay started his teaching career at the age of 16 teaching youth at the YMCA and the Capitol Hill Day School. McRay has had a varied range of teaching & lecturing experiences with Jerry’s Artarama, Cary Arts Center, Salvation Army, Cary Visual Arts, United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake, Mary Phillips School, Longview School, Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities, Wake County Public Schools, NC State University, UNC-Chapel Hill, Saint Augustine’s University, Artspace, City Market Artist Collective, and various NC arts councils.

NOTE: Eric has been a career artist for a very long time. He has taught workshops all over the area, as well as give lectures. He works in very colorful bold styles which bring his paintings so much life. He also works in art type collections, meaning some that all revolve around coffee and such. You can currently see his works in C-Mac gallery in downtown Raleigh.

During this class, you will learn how to do a landscape from references provided, and he will teach how to use techniques inspired by impression. Join us for an artistic adventure.

Little Experience needed: know how to hold a brush, some color mixings helpful
