Workshop Description:
This five-day, Renaissance-inspired oil painting class is rooted in the Covino tradition of controlled palette painting, emphasizing value, form, and disciplined color relationships. Working from early Renaissance master studies—including works by Leonardo da Vinci, Sandro Botticelli, and Raphael—students learn to build form through light rather than color excess.
Classes meet weekly for focused, studio-based instruction. Students prepare their own panels using the traditional Covino gesso mixture, then work at the table with a limited historical palette, following a structured, step-by-step approach drawn from classical studio practice and Covino’s method. Demonstrations and guided practice support each stage of the process, offering students a clear, repeatable way of working.
All paints, panels, palettes, and mediums are included. Easels are not required.
Note: for oil painters- Please bring baby wipes and gloves for your hands. We use the wipes to clean off the hands before entering the gallery. The gallery only allows odorless solvents with lids and non-solvent mediums in the space.
Please bring your box to transport your painting to your car. Brushes do not get cleaned at gallery ever,

Little experience needed: You should know how to hold a brush, some color mixing is helpful
The gallery has table easels if you want to use one, but this class does not require them.
Helpful items to bring: A lidded drink and lunch for the 30 minute break
Smock or painters clothes
Gloves, to keep your hands clean and/or paint with your fingers
Baby wipes to clean off hands/gloves
