Focus will be on fanciful fruits and flowers
This class will build on the theme of designing a still life using the subject matter of fruits and flowers using acrylic paint. Emphasis will be on developing a strong composition with bold shapes and patterns. The development of a color scheme, color mixing and the role of the artist’s perspective will be discussed. The painting styles of Cezanne and Matisse will provide references from which the students can infuse in their personal style. An additional lab fee of $25 dollars will be assessed to cover the cost of the panels and take-home paint if needed: Beginner and Intermediate painting students are welcome.
About the Instructor: Nancy Carty has been an art educator with the experience of teaching painting throughout her art career. She holds a master's degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and currently teaches painting at the Pullen Art Center in Raleigh, NC

NOTE: please bring $25 pp materials fee that will be paid at the door -cash or check is preferred
Gallery will supply: use of the paints, brushes and mixing palette or paper, water containers, small easels, paper towels for clean up. Also, an 8x10 or larger hardboard/or canvas panels will provided with your supply fee. They will be gessoed for you ahead of time to get a sealed substrate to work on, so you can go right into working with the instructor. All you need to do is show up and enjoy the class.
There will be a break for lunch so bring a packed lunch. We have a refrigerator. The gallery will provide some light snacks and filtered water. Bring a lidded drink.
A min of 6 students is needed to run the class. Maximum is 8 and all students will be seated with easels provided by gallery.
LOCATION: Heart2Hands Art Sunroom/workroom which has air conditioning.
NOTE: Plenty of parking on Second and Smith streets and in the driveway.
