"From the Mountains to the Coast" acrylic/oil painting workshop!

Let's transform those vacation and
summer getaway pics into art.
Workshop Description:
In this class, you’ll learn how to paint mountain vistas or coastal seascapes inspired by the techniques of the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists. The concepts of Cezanne, Monet, and Renoir will be addressed. Come learn how to paint sunlight, create atmosphere, and express luminous color that captures the mood and spirit of your favorite mountain or coastal location.

Teacher Bio: Eric McRay received a BFA degree at the Maryland Institute, College of Art, where he earned a four-year scholarship for his artistic talent. A native of Washington, DC, McRay started his teaching career at the age of 16 teaching youth at the YMCA and the Capitol Hill Day School. McRay has had a varied range of teaching & lecturing experiences with Jerry’s Artarama, Cary Arts Center, Salvation Army, Cary Visual Arts, United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake, Mary Phillips School, Longview School, Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities, Wake County Public Schools, NC State University, UNC-Chapel Hill, Saint Augustine’s University, Artspace, and various NC arts councils.
Supplies to bring for acrylic/oil painting:
Canvas: Bring a 16×20 or up to 18x24 inch canvas.
Eric will supply the larger table easels
Set of acrylic paint brushes. Various sized brushes. Palette knives if you like texture.
A variety of colors of acrylic paint (red, yellow, blue, orange, purple, green, white, and brown.-Varying warm and cool primaries)
A palette, paper plates work well
Gallery will provide Two containers for water to clean brushes
Smock or painters clothes
Gloves, if concerned about your hands
BRING: Several hardcopy prints or photographs of landscapes you're interested in painting. Please do not work from a preexisting painting. Bring a charger if relying on your phone or iPad, but we suggest bringing a printed copy of your references.
Note: for oil painters- only odorless solvents with lids and mediums can be used. Please bring your box to transport your painting from easel, to box, to your car. Also ,bring baby wipes to clean off your brushes and hands before leaving the sunroom, into gallery. Brushes do not get cleaned at gallery,

Little experience needed: you should know how to hold a brush, some color mixing is helpful
Medium: Acrylic/oil beginner to intermediate painter
NOTE: Please Bring your own lunch for this class- There will be a 30 minute break- No snacks will be provided. Bring a lidded drink. A fridge is in the kitchen. Grab a plate to eat your lunch on. Thank you!
